AMVs

Many, many, MANY years ago, like most young adults of my era, I got really big into making Anime Music Videos with copyrighted music and my favorite animated series. But by the time I had access to a computer and understood what I was doing, my musical tastes were already getting pretty eclectic and bizarre, and my subject matter choices leaned more toward western cartoons than anime. Over the years, I did make a few "serious" AMVs, but I mostly focused on comedy and obscurity, trying just to make myself laugh more than anything else.

Below are a few choice cuts from back in that era! (More to come in the future, as I dig them up and reanimate them into .mp4 format from their .wmv graves). If you see "Catula presents" at the start, that's because Catula (or BlackCatula) was my earliest screen name, dating back as far as about 2002-ish. Remnants of these videos still exist on YouTube and Tumblr, but the Copyright Goon Squad has been pretty gung-ho about shooting me down over the years for daring to use Oingo Boingo and They Might Be Giants songs alongside clips of Avatar: The Last Airbender and such. Hosting them here on this site allows me to fly under their radar and bring back the lost era of the AMV!

Most of these videos are VERY old and extremely amateur, so I hope you enjoy them as you cringe along with me! If I ever get around to it, I may even try to make some NEW AMVs one of these days...
